An altered note book

Hey girl's, im going to show you how i altered the front of this note book today.
Photobucket
Im so a list person & im always having bits of paper lying around, so this note book is literally for all the "notes" that i make, at least now they'l not get lost or accidently thrown away!!

First, i tyed a knot in my cotton.
Photobucket

Then i started to weave the needle through the middle of the ribbon.
Photobucket

Pulled it until it ruffles to my liking, & using fancy brads, i pinned them to the book page at either end.
Photobucket

Now im going to add any decorative pieces/embellishment's that i have & like to go on this book, i used bling frames, the letter "a" for altered & some other decorative stones.
Photobucket

I also added "star dust" stickles to the rose brads for extra sparkle!
Photobucket

& some MM butterflies with some more rhinestones to finish
Photobucket

I hope you find some inspiration here & dont forget to link back your project's!!

Ribbon Topiary Tree

Hi guys, im going to share with you today, this beautiful topiary tree that me & my DD have been working on.
Photobucket

I will use it for decorating the house when it comes to birthday's, anniversary's, easter, valentine's, the list is endless as it can be so versatile!!! I will be making a few more of these also, maybe in different colour's, i did think of doing some black ones for halloween!! They are so simple & easy to make.

You will need...
Some strips of ribbon
A polystyrene ball
A chipboard plant pot {or other?}
A wooden rod
White paint
Some pins
Sequins &/or other type {buttons?}
Floral foam or oasis
Needle & thread
Photobucket

Take a piece of ribbon & fold it in half, do not crease!
Photobucket

With your cotton thread, double it through the needle & tie a not at the end, so your thread doesnt come all the way though the fabric, kwim? Now start to thread the needle in & out of the ribbon
Photobucket

You can pull as you go, just to size up how much ribbon you'l need or to cut off any access
Photobucket

When you finished, pull tight & stitch the ends together
Photobucket

Photobucket

Once you have done this with all of your piece's of ribbon you can start to put together your tree, with a pin, sequin & flower, take the pin & thread it through the sequin, then the flower.
Photobucket

Photobucket

& push it into the polystyrene ball
Photobucket

It will look like this
Photobucket

Do this covering the whole of the ball, leaving a little gap for the wooden rod to be put in place, If you have any smaller gap's, you can fill them in with a sequin of bead as i have done here.
Photobucket

Photobucket

{I had picture's for this part, but accidently deleted them} I then painted my chipboard plant pot & wooden rod in white, but you can choose your own colour's, to what you have?

Using the end of a pair of sissor's carefully counterfit a hole into the ball & add your rod, you may need to use a bit of glue?
Photobucket

Add your floral foam/oasis into the pot & push the rod down into, you may want to use glue, but i found you dont really need to?
Photobucket

So now im left with this & i was going to add some fake moss, but as my tree is all white, i found some creape paper {which i already had anyway} & did this
Photobucket

This is where i did use glue to keep the paper in the pot, & to finish the tree
Photobucket

Hope you like it & if you decide to do somthing like this be sure to post it here or leave a link!!

Meet tanya tahir

She has made this this fantastic frame with the "my scrapbook nook" may kit, for a chance to win this kit, all you have to do is spread the word about this blog & dt call!!
Photobucket

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the gorgeous May kit. Today I decorated a frame and I have put together a little step by step for how I put it together.

You will need the May kit plus a frame
Photobucket

First I took the insert from the frame and traced it with pencil
Photobucket

Next I trimmed it just outside of the pencil lines
Photobucket

I hand cut some flowers and leaves from the floral paper
Photobucket

Next I arranged some die cuts onto my paper piece
Photobucket

I then added some white ink splatters
Photobucket

and then my title and once I was happy with the arrangement I adhered the piece to the back of the white frame insert
Photobucket

the rest of my pieces were adhered over the top of the white insert
Photobucket

Here's a tip when using brads - I chopped off the ends and then used glue dots to adhere them
Photobucket

then I added the rest of the embellishments - flowers, butterflies and a small phrase sentiment from SRM Stickers
Photobucket

Photobucket

Here is the finished frame
Photobucket

I hope you enjoyed my class and if you create a frame, be sure to come back and add it to this blog & the nook forum would love to see it also!!

Thank's tanya
